Baptismal Forum

In Holy Baptism our gracious heavenly Father sets us free from sin and death by joining us to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. At Good Shepherd we baptize infants as a sign that Baptism is a gift of God and nothing we could ever hope to earn. Baptisms are held during worship services because Baptism is a public sign of God's love - since it's through Baptism that we're adopted into the family of God, the family needs to meet those we Baptize! At Baptism our congregation promises to teach each child the Lord's Prayer, the beliefs of the Church, the Ten Commandments, place the Holy Scriptures in their hands, and provide for their instruction in the Christian faith - and to keep that promise, we need to share their life in Christ, as we pray, play, learn and worktogether.

Pastor Jim leads our discussion on the Biblical basis for the sacrament, as a sign of God's grace, the promise of God's love, forgiveness, eternal life, and adoption into the family of God. If you're the parent or sponsor of one newly baptized, considering your own baptism or that of someone dear to you, or just interested in knowing more about this sacrament, complete the blue Faithworks form during the service or contact Pastor Jim to enroll in our next session.
