Future Building Site

This is a rolling, five acre site at the southeast corner of 112th and Quincy, two miles east of US-31. The parcel is on on the north side of Holland in Holland Township, one mile east of our current worship site, the Corpus Christi Center. It is currently the site of God's Garden and the church office, a nearly one hundred year old building that we affectionally refer to as the "Farmhouse."

Office Relocation and Construction Status

At the Congregational Meeting September 28, members voted unanimously to approve the building schematics, and authorized the expenditure of funds for the professional fees necessary for bidding and construction documents and building permits, site grading, construction of the foundation slab, and roof trusses, before winter stops construction.
Excavation began in earnest Monday, October 6. However, damage to our waste discharge line took us by surprise, expediting our need to relocate office space sooner than we had anticipated - unless, of course, none of us ever need to use the restroom. Nancy, Vicki and I met with Kara Slater from GDK Construction the following Wednesday, and looked at three potential offices. We chose a storefront located in the strip mall adjacent to Arby's, by the Family Fare on South
Washington, near US 31: lots of room for storage, classes and activities; easy, barrier free access; excellent lighting; plenty of parking; can move in any time. The downside is that for a few of us this will increase drive time. I hope you will be able to tolerate the inconvenience - we have few alternatives, and time is of essence. If we do not have telephone service before we relocate, be free to call us by cell:
- Pastor Jim at 616.566.6341
- Nancy Morrison at 616.283.7480
We plan a big push to move our office equipment next Saturday, October 18, meeting at the farmhouse at 8:30 am. If you have a strong back please join us to help (and if you have access to a truck or trailer, all the better) - Paul Boesenecker will have donut holes and bananas to entice you!
