Devotionals

We make available at the Welcome Center free copies of two daily devotional magazines, published on a quarterly basis.

Christ in Our Home is written to bring worship into daily life by providing a daily scripture reading, prayer and devotional, all keyed to our Sunday Bible readings.

Davey and Goliath's Devotional is a quarterly devotional magazine created for today's busy families. Each issue features a flexible, weekly format that makes it easy for families to share faith with each other. The classic television characters, Davey and Goliath, bring even more faith and fun through Bible-based activities and games that engage kids and keep up with "families on the go!" The stop-motion animation series for children that first aired on broadcast television in 1960 has also returned, sponsored by the ELCA. Visit the official Davey and Goliath web site at www.daveyandgoliath.org for the latest updates, station listings, episode guide, and to sign up for Davey and goliath e-mail news. For more information about the new ministry products featuring Davey and Goliath available from Augsburg Fortress, call 1-800-328-4648 or visit www.augsburgfortress.org.

Members of the congregation also write and publish a Lenten Devotional every year. It's a tradition at Good Shepherd for folks to share their faith by writing devotions to use during the forty days of Lent, from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday. Their reflections are based on a series of Bible passages that lead you through the final days of Jesus' life. It's a wonderful resource to use as a family during dinner time or by yourself during your quiet time, and an opportunity to share the faith of people you might like to know better. PDF files are available for download here 2012 Lenten Devotional.

Members also receive a free subscription to The Lutheran, the magazine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The Lutheran is a four-color monthly whose job is to bring news of the church - local, national and international - to the ELCA member. It strives to explore our Christian faith on a personal, congregational and worldwide basis through stories that educate, inspire and nurture faith. For further information, visit the magazine's web site at www.thelutheran.org.
