Learning

Sunday Education Hour
Sunday School is offered from the Sunday after Labor Day through Memorial Day (September-May), adjourning then for summer break. Children, youth and adults are welcome to join and enroll at any time. Classes are held from 9:00-9:50 am in the classrooms in the D-Wing of the Corpus Christi Center.

Nursery
A staffed nursery for infants through preschoolers leads children in age appropriate lessons and songs during Sunday School, so that parents or guardians are free to teach or assist with a Sunday School class, attend the Adult Forum or simply collect themselves for Quiet Coffee.

Sunday School for Children
Our goal is to help children develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We want them to not only know about Jesus, but to begin to really know Jesus. Sunday School classes meet between Labor Day and Memorial Day from 9:00 - 9:50 am in the D-wing classrooms of the Corpus Christi Center. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Although we have enrollment forms they are not necessary to visit or attend for the first time.

The curriculum for ages 2 through grade 6 is Living the Good News, a lectionary-based program which engages all ages in shared experiences of the Sunday worship readings. Sunday School stories, Pastor's children's message and the readings for worship are based on the same scripture uniting the entire congregation in worship.

The nursery class for ages 2 and 3 introduces the very young to Jesus through engaging stories, songs and games. Designed for active, inquisitive little ones the program includes time for free play allowing interaction and association with other children their own age.

Our preschool/kindergarten class for 4 and 5 year olds involves children both physically and mentally in the learning process. Simple stories and engaging activities, including games, songs and art, tie in with the scripture theme and make learning the Bible lessons as much fun as possible.

The primary class for grades 1 and 2 encourages this inquiring age to explore the Bible lesson. Through games, group play, crafts, song and prayer the children start to discover a lot about themselves, about relationships, about right and wrong.

Intermediate students in grades 3 through 6 are challenged to see the connection between events in the Bible stories and real-life experiences. Activities, games and grafts all foster a connection between their faith and themselves. At this age we introduce Luther's Small Catechism and look at aspects of Lutheran worship including baptism, holy communion, and the Apostle's Creed.

Adult Forum
The Adult Forum meets in the Corpus Christi Media Center from 9:00-9:45 am Sundays, typically running from Labor Day and till Pentecost Sunday, adjourning then for summer break. Over the past few months we have studied and discussed the Parables of Jesus, Martin Luther's Legacy, Advent Themes in the Bible, What We Know About the Magi, Responses to the Tsunami and Other Disasters, Wisdom of the Old Testament Books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, Martin Luther's Study of Galations. We are currently discussing Luther's Small Catechism, this year continuing our session through the summer by popular request.

Quiet Coffee
The coffee's on both before worship and afterwards. While your children are in Sunday School, you are welcome to join the Adult Forum, or for your own personal quiet time, find a quiet place in the Fellowship Hall with a cup of coffee.
