What's it really like at Good Shepherd?
It can feel a little scary to step inside a new church - especially if you don't know what to expect, or you've been away from church for a long time, or maybe never even been to church much at all. So what's it really like to spend a Sunday morning with us? At Good Shepherd, it feels like home.
The coffee's on before we worship and afterwards. Sunday School for all ages is held at 9:00 am, September through May. Our worship service is at 10:00 am, with time afterward for coffee and conversation - complete with tasty treats.
Wear whatever feels comfortable for you - you'll see everything from sport coats and ties to blue jeans. Children are welcomed and encouraged to join in worship, though we always provide nursery care for times when parents want help. Pastor Jim offers a children's sermon every Sunday, inviting kids to join him at the altar to talk about our Bible lesson. We offer Holy Communion every Sunday, and invite all those who worship with us to share the Lord's Supper. The music and sermons are upbeat and uplifting, grounded in scripture yet geared to meet the needs of daily life!
The members of Good Shepherd are just friends you haven't met yet. Many are new to the area, so we're a real resource for other newcomers, for couples from different church backgrounds who need a "middle ground," or folks who might just need a new start. We like to laugh and we like to eat and we like to share our joy and faith with those who long for a church home. At Good Shepherd you don't have to have it all figured out - your questions, doubts and mistakes are as welcome as you are. Good Shepherd is a community of healing and hope, a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints. What makes this "hospital" unique is that here, God turns the patients into healers.
At Good Shepherd, church is the people, not the building.
